 Buying Property in the UK

Buying property in UK

ARE you an alien who wants to experience everyday driving in the left lane and people full of the unique British accent around you? You may be mesmerized into buying property here in the UK. There are actually lots of properties for sale here in the UK. It’s up to you to choose the right property for you and this article attempts to help you do so.

Always do remember that buying property here in the UK or anywhere else in the world is no joke. There are lots of things to consider – on how many persons will live in that home, on finding the right neighborhood for you, on its accessibility to public transport, on the availability of a garage or a space for one, on its accessibility to the best medical services in case of any eventuality, etc. If you consider yourself buying a manor, there are lots of things to be factored in too. Do you want to live alone or do you intend to live with a romantic partner? Do you want to get yourself a butler? Will your butler just be someone who can fix the food or can he fix the plumbing and electricity too? Can he also double as your bodyguard and as a caretaker of the house? Then there the security considerations come in. What kind of security system do you intend to take? Will you want the simple burglar alarm or will you want Kevlar to surround your window? Will you build a panic room complete with a CCTV monitor, packed food, toilet, cell and landline, fortified walls of steel and Kevlar, flashlight, etc? Or do you prefer something simple, that is no security system at all. If you prefer living in an isolated area, you also need to know the emergency contact numbers of the cops or the hospital in case of any eventuality. And you also need to know if there is any emergency transport nearby in case you don’t have your own.

The best way to buy property here in the UK is to have a second opinion on everything. That means accompanying someone you trust while scouting around for the best place to settle down. He or she may be your spouse or your lawyer. You also need to hire a competent lawyer who can be trusted. This is somewhat tricky since your lawyer must be adept in British realty laws but at the same time representing only your interest. Be sure that he can be trusted and would not con you in conniving with the real estate agent or the seller of the property in upping the real value of the property. Then you’ll need to find the best real estate agent too.

That’s certainly not a problem if you’ve been here in the UK for some time since I presume you’ll be familiar with the most reputed property brokers here. But for the uninitiated, you can actually conduct a Google search and the topmost on the hit list will surely be the reputed ones simply because the website with the most traffic receives fewer complaints from customers than the rest.
